Life in UTP

Time waits for no man. It’s been a while since I came into Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and it’s already nearing the end of this second semester.

In my opinion, I personally feel that this semester is actually much easier compared to the previous semester. We are actually learning back the same subjects that we studied when we were in Form 4 and 5 such as Physics and Chemistry. The only difference is that University uses different terms and symbols. And yes there are some new concepts and terms added into the syllabus. Understanding the basic and concepts is much easier compare to memorizing all the facts, and that’s how I study. I find the semester enjoyable because I have more free time to myself, being able to indulge in various sports and computer games. I went out watching movies and trips with course mates too during the mid-semester break. I even have time to participate in some of the sports competition too.

In the previous semester, there were new subjects that I have never encountered before such as Programming and Thinking Skills. Programming is a very interesting subject. It’s not only related to computers, but it’s also about algorithms and mathematics that requires lots of thinking. This subject opened up a new world to me. Thinking skills require a lot of reading and memorizing the facts which I am not really good in. For the first semester, it was pretty busy. Every subject had a project or assignment to be done especially Programming (4 projects). Thus, my precious free time had gone to meetings and discussion.

In a nutshell, this university life has given me many wonderful experiences in just two semesters. I am anticipating what lies ahead in the coming next 5 years!
